Sergio Danon
Missionary / Branch Leader
Sergio Danon is the chief of station of our Brazilian work. A native of Rio de Janeiro, he grew up in a traditional Jewish home. Both of his parents became believers when he was 16 years old. Sergio came to believe in Jesus as his Messiah four years later, after being promoted as a lieutenant in the Brazilian Army. He received his B.A. in Sociology and his theological training from the Seminário Teológico Betel. He was ordained as a pastor, and acted as a pastor at Igreja Evangélica Beit Lehem for 5 years, before joining Jews for Jesus in May 2000.
Married to Alexia since 1991, they are parents of Israel and Gabriel. Sergio trained with Jews for Jesus in New York City before returning to Brazil in 2002, to start our branch from the scratch.
He led 2 successful campaigns in Brazil during BYG: Rio (2003) and São Paulo (2004), and also led the Pan American Games outreach in Rio 2007. He participated from 2 Summer Witnessing Campaigns in New York (2000/2001) and also from other BYG campaigns: Mexico (2002), Buenos Aires (2005), New York (2006), Sh’felah (2009).
Now he is undertaking his Master’s degree training on Specialization on Jewish Ministry with Western Seminary.
