Montréal is a very diverse city and cultural center, located in the province of Quebec. The first language in Montréal is French, but a large proportion of people are bilingual, while some speak only English. Montréal has been referred to as "the most unreached city in North America." (This refers to the city as a whole, not just the Jewish population.) Relativism, secularism, and hedonism are prevalent. Less than 1% of the population of (the province of) Quebec would say they are born-again followers of Messiah. This is indeed a city that needs the Gospel!
The Jewish population of Montréal is approximately 100,000, and the people are more religious than many Jewish communities in North America. Many Holocaust survivors reside in Montréal, and a third or more of the Jewish population are French-speaking Sephardi Jews, originally from North Africa.
Our Montréal Outpost began officially in July 2005 in anticipation of our "Behold Your God" Montréal Outreach in September/October of the same year. You'll find us sharing the Gospel on the streets of Montréal, like rue Ste-Catherine, in the Métros, and also on university campuses like McGill and Concordia, going door-to-door in Jewish neighborhoods, and phone calling. Every year, you'll see us lifting up Y'shua (Jesus) at the Québec City Winter Carnaval. Using PalTalk and the Internet we reach people in all 6 times zones of Canada—from the Maritimes to British Columbia. We minister in personal Bible studies with Jewish seekers and believers. We hold special events for believers and seekers alike to come together and celebrate holidays like Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah and Purim.
Whether you are Jewish and want to know more about why we believe in Jesus, or whether you already believe and are looking for others who know what it means to be a Jew for Jesus, we hope you will copy the information to your right and look us up. Come study and celebrate with us from a Messianic perspective.*
For believers in Jesus: whether or not you are Jewish we would love to have you partner with us. We have a variety of opportunities available for volunteers, prayer partners and those who are otherwise interested in supporting our outreach to the Montréal area. We're always looking for volunteers to do evangelism, translation, help with our mailings and some administration.
We also offer a variety of programs for local churches. Our Montréal Outpost can provide professional quality messages that will help Christians communicate the gospel to Jewish friends and acquaintances with sensitivity. If you are interested in scheduling one of our programs at your church, contact our office (http://jewsforjesus.ca/churches_scheduling.aspx) and ask for our Ministry Relations person.
*We can help with liturgy for a messianic wedding, bris, naming ceremony, bar mitzvah, etc
