JACKIE MASON ACCEPTS APOLOGY INSTEAD OF 4 MILLION DOLLARS — LAWSUIT AGAINST JEWS FOR JESUS IS SETTLED

The comedian Jackie Mason and Jews for Jesus executive director, David Brickner entered into an agreement arbitrated by Judge Richard Berman on December 4th at the United States District Court, Southern District of New York.

Said Brickner,

When we wrote and distributed the tract, "Jackie Mason: A Jew for Jesus?" we thought that he might enjoy our sense of humor. We were saddened that he felt personally hurt. It was an easy apology to write because Mason is a folk hero among the boomer generation. He is the typical Jewish grandfather with the kind of humor that we came to appreciate in our older relatives. It was not difficult to apologize for any distress Jackie Mason felt over the tract. We certainly didn't want anyone to think less of him.

"We're very pleased with the outcome. We continue to feel that satire and humor is one of the best ways in which to proclaim the Gospel. Hearing about Jesus should make people smile.

TEXT OF THE APOLOGY

Dear Mr. Mason:

I'm writing this letter to convey my sincere apologies for any distress that you felt over our tract, "Jackie Mason, A Jew For Jesus?" To me, and most of our Jews for Jesus staff, you project an image of a loving, caring, and wise Jewish grandfather. We appreciate your broad knowledge and your feeling for all things Jewish.

While the publishing of the evangelistic tract which featured you was one of hundreds of evangelistic pamphlets we regularly write and distribute as an expression of our religious beliefs and therefore is protected by our Constitution, we are willing in the interest of ahavat yisroel and shalom to retire this particular evangelistic tract.

Please accept our sincere good wishes for a Happy Hanukkah and a happy, healthy New Year.

Sincerely yours,

David Brickner

Congratulations on both parts, especially on Jews for Jesus’s attitude. By evoking a concept from the Torah known as Ahavat Yisroel and obeying its commandment, David had just displayed the utter Jewishness of the Jews for Jesus. --------------------------------------------------- “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6 ******* *Your sister and friend from Brazil.

Chad, I wantd to introduce you to a new word called "excommunication" When one worships idols, they get excommunicated from the Jewish people. That is what we Jews mean when we say "you can't stay Jewish and believe in Jesus"

Ryan, It isn't a matter of just copying what our parents did, that's a dud argument. It's a matter of staying Jewish and not falling prey to organisations that are umbrellas of the evangelical church

Joshua from Israel, I believe the verse you mentioned applies in context with the Gospels and the Letters of Paul. Read Romans in particular.

Mikhail, you don't have to believe that your parents were always right in order to honor your father and mother. It is nonsense to believe that all parents are always right because many parental beliefs contradict other parental beliefs. Thus, it is silly to believe that you are a Jew just because your parents claimed to be Jews. Also, Jesus is not just a Jew. He is also the Son of God, and thus is worthy of worship.

Dear Bro. Brickner, I thanked God for giving you the wisdom you needed on how you handled Jackie Mason case. I would like to commend you on three things for your effort and courage on these trying times. First, you rightly handled Matthew 5:25 which is settling dispute over our adversary. Secondly, for courage on not agreeing to Jakie Mason for money settlement over the case. That takes a lot of courage on your part, and was truly a good steward of the victory that God has given to JEWS for JESUS. Thirdly, you displayed the right example on how to handle and rightly divide the word of God and apply it on our diffult times. II Tim. 2:15 says "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Once more our Y'shua-Jesus Christ has proven Himself to be our Jehovah Nissi-Our victory! What shall we then say to hese things? If God be for us who can be against us? TO GOD BE THE GLORY. AMEN!

To Chad My point was only to say that Jews for Jesus is a Christian mission and not part of the Jewish faith. It is Christianity and it seems on this point we agree. Having chosen to follow a different faith you have stopped being a part of the Jewish people. This is possible and is mentioned in Torah many times. For example: Lev 17:10. And whoever there is of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among you, who eats any kind of blood; I will set my face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. To me this means that you are not part of the house if Israel anymore and not Jewish without proper atonement via Yom Kippur. So my whole point is that you may have been born Jewish but having rejected many parts of it essentially you have stopped being Jewish. In that sense Jackie Mason was correct in saying you aren’t Jewish.

To Ryan: I and our people call ourselves Jews because our souls were gathered at the Mount Sinai to receive Torah and promised to G-d to observe the 613 commandments for ever and ever. We are Jews because we adhere to the commandment "There shall be no other gods before Me"... We reject Jesus because worshipping "another Jew" is direct idolatry,i.e. Avoda Zara (refer to the Book of Deutronomy for details)... For all these reasons, our parents were and are always right (the goyim are also advised to respect parents in the 7 Noahide Laws)... Familiarity with the content of Bible is highly appreciated)

Steve, "he shall be called a Nazerene" Read in the old testament Numbers chapter 6 Nazirite means a member of a class of individuals especially devoted to God also judges 13, First Sam 1 .... I know its not from the town that jesus lived in but its more than a town its a way of life he chose.

If it weren't for the Jewish missionaries, the Gentile church would not of existed and I Praise the Living God they did evangelize as the Lord commanded. Quite frankly because I am one of those Gentiles. What a blessing we have in the Savior!!!
