How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Money!

Here comes that dreaded day – Valentine’s Day.
When everybody in a relationship rushes out to buy hearts, flowers and candy for their significant others.
But does that really mean something?
Yet woe to the poor schlemiel who doesn’t do it. He’ll be in the dog house faster than his next breath.
I hate contrived holidays like this one often is. It forces you to embrace the commercialism even if your heart’s not into it.
Valentine's Day Plus it can be so fake.
Heart-shaped chocolate boxes. Why not heart-shaped chocolate bagels? That might pique my interest.
Expensive flowers that drop dead the next day. How about a potted fern for the window sill?
And dinner reservations that take a whole paycheck. My bubbele is a better cook, but she comes with the romance package.
At the end of the day when you’re lying in bed staring at the ceiling, you still feel empty and lonely and wondering where the magic went.
It didn't go anywhere.
Was it ever there in the first place?
You see, what you bought into was hype.
It was meant to get you to spend money, which you willingly did, along with thousands of other people.
That's not to say true romance is dead or loving relationships don't exist.  But wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a love that lasted forever? A love that wouldn't betray you or disappoint you?
Well, there is such a thing.
Except it's found in a Person. His name is Y'shua (Jesus).
You see, God created you to love him. Except you don't. None of us do. And that's called sin.
So God sent Y'shua to restore the broken relationship between you and him. He did it by living the life you couldn't and by dying on the cross to pay for your sins.
Jesus did it out of love for God and for you.
"…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us." – Romans 5:8 ESV
God's love for you is everlasting. It's real. It will never change.
You don't have to earn it. And unlike that box of bonbons, you can't rush out to buy it.
All you have to do is accept it in Jesus, who bridges the gap between God and us.
"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." – Acts 4:12 ESV
When you embrace Y'shua, then Valentine's Day is not only once a year, but every day.
Are you ready to recognize the one true love who cares for you?
Leave me a love note.

The LORD showed me a few years ago that my soul mate was never a man. It is the Holy Spirit. Only He can love our very souls. Talk about taking the pressure off of your boyfriend/girlfriend , husband/wife. If I had listened years earlier I would have learned this one and things would have been WAY different. But, now that I know it, I am more capable of loving someone with no need to put unreasonable expectations on them. :)

Yeshua Is the way, the truth and the life and he is the streams of living water. When I read about the healing waters that flows into the temple in Ezekiel it makes me think of Yeshua and how he spoke of living waters.
