My name is Yury Persianov. I was born in a city on the beautiful Black Sea: the city of Odessa, rich in history and humor. A hundred years ago, the official figures put one third of its population as Jewish.
Despite the Soviet atheistic regime, both my parents were Christians. I heard the Good News from an early age. By God's mercy, I received Christ at the age of 11 and was baptized at the age of 15. Since I knew no other believers at school I was drawn to the church fellowship very much. And it was in church that I met Jews for Jesus for the first time. For the next five years, I volunteered in the Jews for Jesus music team. After graduating from university, I was invited to join the Jews for Jesus staff as an administrator.
One of my hobbies is listening to Christian programs on TransWorld Radio. I remember its signal from early childhood, when it was difficult to distinguish it because the authorities always tried to jam its broadcast. But the Lord taught us to discern His voice from the voice of all others.
Today is the day of salvation for Jews and Gentiles! Let us treasure the time!
