Canada is a multicultural mosaic where people celebrate and take pride in the small, the friendly and the relaxed.

Tolerance and respect for minorities and the disenfranchised are important aspects of Canadian culture. Nearly 60% of Toronto's population were born and raised elsewhere. Many people feel that the way to maintain tolerance and respect as far as religion is concerned is to keep faith a private matter.

There are about 380,000 Jewish people in Canada. About 180,000 live in Southern Ontario and 100,000 in Montreal. The rest reside in Halifax, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Most of the Jewish community is Ashkenazi (Eastern European) but there is a large population of French-speaking Moroccan Jews in Montreal. Twenty-five percent of all Jews who immigrated to Canada in the past ten years were born in the Soviet Union or its successor states, and 20% in Israel (an estimated 30,000 Israelis live in Canada). The Canadian Jewish Congress has reported that Canada has the highest number of Holocaust survivors outside of Israel (30,000).

In 1981, Jews for Jesus opened the Toronto office—the first branch outside of the USA. You may see Jews for Jesus handing out gospel literature at the Toronto Blue Jays baseball games, the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey matches, or the Toronto Raptors basketball games. We also call and visit Jewish people on a regular basis and maintain a Canadian web site and chat room to interact with people throughout Canada: http://www.jewsforjesus.ca. We also do campus outreach. In 2005, we opened our Montreal Outpost and hope to open an office Vancouver.

Our Canadian staff is a very diverse group, hailing from Pakistan, Barbados, Canada, and the USA. We are willing to meet inquirers in person within a two-hour radius—as far north as Newmarket, East to Oshawa and West to London, Ontario. We also see people in Niagara Falls and do occasional outreach in Quebec City, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. Using PalTalk and the Internet we reach people in all 6 times zones of Canada—from the Maritimes to British Columbia. Our monthly fellowship meetings feature music, drama, personal stories of faith, and worship.

We also have personal Bible studies with Jewish believers who are looking to deepen their biblical understanding. We hold special events for believers and seekers alike to come together and celebrate holidays like Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah and Purim.

Whether you are Jewish and want to know more about why we believe in Jesus, or whether you already believe and are looking for others who know what it means to be a Jew for Jesus, we hope you will copy the information to your right and look us up. Come study and celebrate with us from a Messianic perspective.*

For believers in Jesus: whether or not you are Jewish we would love to have you partner with us. We have a variety of opportunities available for volunteers, prayer partners and those who are otherwise interested in supporting our outreach to the Toronto area.

We also offer a variety of programs for local churches. Our branch representatives can provide professional quality messages that will help Christians communicate the gospel to Jewish friends and acquaintances with sensitivity. We also have a local singing team. If you are interested in scheduling one of our programs at your church, contact our office (http://jewsforjesus.ca/churches_scheduling.aspx) and ask for our Ministry Relations person.

*We can help with liturgy for a messianic wedding, bris, naming ceremony, bar mitzvah, etc.
