how do I know if I am Jewish or not? My father was raised a practicing German Jew. He spoke Hebrew and Yiddish and German

Jacob Weinberg

No. you're not Jewish. Judaism is a religion, not a genetic disorder

Katherine - if either of your parents is Jewish, you are Jewish. Not according to the Orthodox (they are mother-only) but according to the Bible (several of Jesus' maternal ancestors were Gentiles) and the majority of Jewish opinion today. Were you raised Jewish with the holidays etc.?

I agree with Rich, my mother's grandparents are from Germany and were Jews, my father's ancestors are Sephardic Jews, and even though we were not raised in the "religion" of Jews we consider ourselves to be such, regardless of what the orthodox say.
